The Completion of Island Village Elementary School
Williams Company recently completed the new high-performance Island Village Elementary School for The School District of Osceola County, Florida! The 948-student station school consists of a new two-story classroom building and a one-story covered play structure. The covered play structure was utilized as a mockup to test the performance of the building envelope during the early stages of construction, ensuring successful execution and quality of the High-Performance components of the project. The school was constructed with the goal to meet or exceed the High-Performance Design criteria specified for the project, the main criteria being that Air Leakage through the full building enclosure was targeted not to exceed 0.15 cfm/sq. ft. of surface area. Through mock-ups and excellent quality control during construction, our Team achieved an air leakage rate of 0.04 cfm/sq. ft. of surface area!
